When working in a virtual environment, the volatile execution environment of a virtual machine can be consolidated on a disk, which makes it possible to resume the system at the exact point when a dump occurred. This functionality, together with the snapshots of the disk volume manager, makes it possible to obtain an accurate image (volatile environment and consolidated storage) of the system at a specific time. A complete backup mechanism minimizes the recovery times of a system which has suffered a bad update or a breach of security, by allowing the system to go back to a previous stable and secure status.
